Pearl Onas, RN, BSN, Unit Manager, has been awarded a coveted Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing by the Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut (VNA/SCC).
The Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing celebrates outstanding nurses. Nominees “should have made a significant impact on patient care and/or the nursing profession; gone ‘beyond the call’ in a clearly illustrated way, and demonstrated excellence or achieved a life-long legacy in a particular arena.”
Through Pearl’s work ethic and passion for nursing, she effortlessly achieved all five criteria to obtain this award. She exhibits extraordinary caring and compassion for all elderly residents and their families and has gone beyond the call of duty for residents on many occasions.
Recipients of the Nightingale Awards were honored on Thursday, May 8th at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven at a reception co-chaired by Kiki and Ted Kennedy, Jr. Congratulations, Pearl!

Aaron Manor has been recognized as a 2013 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality award for its dedication to improving the lives of residents through improved quality care. The award is one of three distinctions possible through the National Quality Award program, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The program honors facilities across the nation that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality care for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Aaron Manor received a 5 out of 5 overall rating from CMS of the Department of Health & Human Services on March 8, 2012. The 5-star rating means that Aaron Manor rated much above average based on health inspections, nursing home staffing, and quality measures.
